Get Aquainted

Finding the right “fit” in a therapist is important. I am happy to answer questions that you may have about my qualifications and/or to make referrals to other resources if I can. There is no charge for an initial phone consultation.

Hello!

The current focus of my practice is in the area of trauma recovery. That includes working with individuals (and sometimes couples) whose early childhood attachment wounding, prior sexual abuse, combat and other life or safety-threatening experiences result in relationship problems, chronic anxiety, angry outbursts, sleep difficulties and/or a sense of numbness to life.

Prior to moving to Auburn in 2010, much of my career had been working with adults with addictions many of whom were mandated by a court or CPS to see me. Most of my clients coped with intense emotional ups and downs, the  effects of many traumatic experiences, transition from prison, homelessness and/or inpatient treatment. Many of them also experienced chronic mental illness.

I earned my Masters of Science degree in Counseling from the University of Nevada. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both California (MFT #53098) and Nevada (MFT #0901). I also maintain a Drug and Alcohol Counselor License in Nevada (LADC#847-L)

I opened Palo Verde Therapy in Las Vegas, NV in 2001 and moved to this Auburn location in 2013. In Las Vegas, I implements a research-based (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)) program for clients with multiple, long standing mood and addiction problems and a peer consultation and training program for therapists.  I enjoyed speaking in university classes, professional associations, and hospitals on the topic of using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) in the treatment of people with multiple, complex problems.

I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), and the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA). I am the Outreach Coordinator for the Trauma Recovery Network (TRN) through the EMDR International Association for our area. I also provide counseling to Veterans through the Give-an-Hour organization.

I look forward to speaking with you!
Yours truly,
Pam Shore, MFT
